who are ready to have the relationship--the
love--of their heart's desire.

| The
Will Gets in the Way |
|
When
we are so busy forcing our will, whether
searching ads on the online dating sites or
trying to make a person who is a "no"
into a "yes" by sheer determination,
we can miss the beauty of the gods, the
sweetness of fate, the divine intervention: the
real ways in which true lovers are brought
together.
There are literally thousands of ways people are
willful in relationships. They try to dictate
their relationships, others they're in
relationship with, and their own hearts. Any action
or inaction that is forced or not an expression of
the truth in your heart can be willful. Below are
just some of the behaviors that indicate
willfulness:

real magic in life happens when the personal
will and the Divine will are in alignment. ~Pamela

- Trying to convince yourself that someone is
right for you
- Changing yourself so you "fit"
with someone
- Scouring the on-line dating ads
- Knowing someone is not right for you and not
being able to let go
- Continuing to flirt or go out with someone
you really aren't interested in
- Settling for someone who seems "right
enough" for fear of never finding the
truly perfect partner
- Going out with someone after a red flag has
gone off telling you to stay away, even if-or
especially if- you're very attracted to them
- Hanging on and thinking someone will change
their mind after they have told you they are
not interested in you romantically
- Giving up dating all together or swearing
off relationships
- Not taking care of yourself mind, body, and
soul.
People
spend years being willful in the dating arena. I
have been guilty of almost every one of the
behaviors listed above myself.
Sometimes we really love a person and it's hard to
admit that they are not right for us. But as my
wise mother used to say, "Just because you
love him does not make him right for you." We
have to learn to let these people who are not
right for us go, no matter how much we may love
them or be attracted to them. They can be our
"favorite mistake," but it doesn't serve
anyone or anything--except our will--to try to
make something right that isn't.
Another willful favorite is to try to make
ourselves love someone because he or she seems
perfect on paper. This iof course always proves
very painful to everyone involved. Goethe put it
best: "The heart has reasons reason doesn't
understand." The heart ultimately wants to be
aligned with Divine will and won't feign happiness
very long being manipulated by the personal will.
We simply cannot attract our perfect partner if we
can't stop trying to dictate who and when and how.
As long as we are willful, we will continue to
make choices that cause ourselves and others pain.
All the looking, grabbing, pushing for what we
want, essentially trying to will it to happen,
just gets us more of the relationships and
partners we really don't want. You know,
the ones that give us that strong sense of deja vu
--and I don't mean the good deja vu--I mean the
one that causes us to ask, "How on earth did
I attract this again?"
Letting
Go and Receiving
When you finally let go of willfulness--if nothing
else but from sheer exhaustion or being tired of
suffering--and then align yourself with your
perfect vision, the universe has an amazing way of
what Deepak Chopra calls, "effortless
ease" of bringing you together with your
perfect partner. Ultimately, to have a phenomenal
relationship--or even a healthy and fulfilling
one--we each must do our inner work to prepare
ourselves. We have to stop trying to tackle it to
the ground; we have to stop running our rackets.
Once we have cultivated our own garden and are
truly ready to receive, we can send the signals
out to the universe, step aside, and let the gods
orchestrate the introduction.
Blessings~ Pamela
