Pamela Ramey-Tatum My Journey/My Work: Like many women, I grew up believing that the right man would sweep me off my feet, we’d get married and live happily ever after. But it became clear early on that wasn’t going to happen. I had several relationships before marrying, married the wrong person for the wrong reasons, divorced and had more entanglements and two more failed relationships after that. The last of which was a saga that left me crushed. I was ready either to give up on love altogether or figure out how to get it right. My intuition told me that I was on this planet to master love and relationship, so I embarked on an inner journey. My journey began with lots of relationship books and therapy. Already into yoga and meditation, I delved more deeply into that, doing hours of Kundalini yoga, meditation and white tantric yoga, attending workshops and retreats, and working one-on-one with a yoga master. I even went to India for 9 months, both as a student and teacher, experiencing the power of my own soul in an environment that challenged me to the core. After India, I traveled abroad for another year. I became interested in ways to make the physical connection with a partner more sacred and alive. I studied both Eastern and Western sacred sex practices and the differences in male and female energy. My work also included studying the psychology of attraction, subconscious patterns in mating that are connected to our parenting and early childhood experiences. Finally, my journey culminated in the study and practice of a “consciousness-as-cause” philosophy, which I had discovered many years earlier but hadn’t pursued diligently. Now, it came to me in many forms at once; books, trainings and workshops suddenly all had this theme. The holographic universe screamed: THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT; YOU MUST GET THIS NOW! And get it I did. During these years of inner work and study, I had many shifts in consciousness and let go of countless limiting beliefs. With these shifts came clarity of vision and empowerment. Finally, I appreciated my tremendous gifts and knew what I wanted. I could then focus my energy on who I was being in the world, which was the woman who had the perfect partner! The universe quickly and effortlessly corresponded, bringing me the love of my life, John Tatum, M.D. We met through a business venture and within two months, we were committed to each other, and within a year, married. Every day—without fail—we thank each other and the Divine for bringing us together. But more practically, we know that we each did a lot of work on ourselves to manifest this amazing meeting of two like souls, perfect for each other in every way. My work did not stop there. John became another great teacher to me, and as life partners on this amazing, sacred journey together, we continue discovering more about what it means to love.
